Secretary General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening Ali Akbar Velayati issued a statement condemning Al-Khalifa move in stripping the leading Shia spiritual leader Ayatollah Isa Qassim of his Bahraini nationality.
Velayati noted in his statement that the move by Bahrain came as a shock to all government officials as well as international communities.
“For the survival of their illegal ruling, the despotic government of Al-Khalifa has resorted to various ways of suppressing people’s uprising including efforts for causing fight between Shias and Sunnis, fomenting ethnic, tribal and religious disputes, ruthless killing of Bahraini people, arbitrary, oppressive and violent behavior, imprisoning Bahraini clerics and religious leaders, preventing acts of worship and religious ceremonies in mosques, trampling civil rights, ignoring the basic rights of people to self-determination as well as ill-considered actions during the Islamic Awakening move by people of Bahrain,” noted the official.
Velayati further enumerated other measures taken by Al-Khalifa regime to suppress the rightful uprising of the Bahraini nation like closure of civil society organizations or pressure on scholars adding “Al-Khalifa and their regional and non-regional supporters need to know that they cannot stand against the will of a nation.”
“Patience and perseverance of the people of Bahrain will soon lead to holy victories the will of God,” underlined the official.
Leader’s senior advisor also stated that “the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening recommends Bahraini rulers to comply with the basic rights of citizenship for the people by avoiding oppression and tyranny.”
He also called for preserving the dignity and sanctity of religious and political leaders particularly Ayatollah Isa Qassim since previous method have all been doomed to failure.
“The recent move would bring the Bahraini nation into a new phase of confrontation which will exert devastating effects on Al-Khalifa rulers,” Velayati concluded.
